With the progression of scientific technology, Japan has become
a country that spends over 60 trillion yen on medical fees. This
expense is increasing rapidly due to an aging society. Public
research funds marked for the life sciences alone has reached
an amount over one trillion yen, and expectations of the Japanese
people in regards to this field are rising steadily. In what ways
can we use our country's advanced scientific technology to return
something to the patients, improve medical services, and reduce
the financial burden placed upon our citizens? We are being asked
these questions, as well as the question of how we can practice
medicine so that each and every individual's quality of life can
be improved.
Until now, creating a business from scientific technology has
been considered the difficult part. Bio Link is here to provide
the link between researchers and companies, companies and funding,
technology and technology, and between technology and knowledge
itself, in order to create a business platform.
We also will employ a method of technology assessment not used
before in Japan. This method takes into account everything surrounding
the technology, from the abilities of the researchers and CEOs
to their ways of thinking. Thus, we aim to provide yet another
link: one between researchers and people.
